De-cluttering your workspace.

Eliminating distractions. Putting away your phone when you’re working. Selling everything you don’t need. Living a minimalist lifestyle. Installing apps on your phone which will block your access to other apps. And so on. These are all the generic, boring advice which you’ll get when you peek into all the rabbit holes of the Internet where people are happy to offer you their ‘advice’ on anything related to Time Management or Time Thieves.

I’m not going to necessarily sit here and complain and say it’s all wrong.

Having a messy workspace is indeed a distraction.

But there are way bigger distractions than all the physical stuff around you.

For example, everything that goes on inside your head. If your head is not in the right place, if you aren’t truly happy, if you haven’t sorted out everything inside of you and you truly live and appreciate life, then what are you really organizing your workspace for?

What about de-cluttering and re-wiring the circuits of your brain first?

I can work and get things done in a messy environment because I feel good on the inside.

That doesn’t mean that I do not feel emotion. That doesn’t mean that I do not appreciate feeling sad, miserable, happy, excited, nervous, anxious and all the other emotions which come with being a human being. It just means that I am able to execute in spite of what I am feeling. And too many people, if not everyone, are not. They need to ‘feel well’ on the inside to be able to work. Which is one of their biggest flaws.

I’ll give you a quick example right now.

I wake up feeling a little bit sad and almost depressed every day. Even though I do not have any reason to do so. Life is good, I am winning daily and I’m getting stronger and more powerful every day. What in the world do I have to be sad over? I really don’t know.

I just know that I’m able to go execute in spite of feeling the way I feel.

And gradually, I begin to feel better and better.

I do not allow the sadness to be a distraction.

Because I have overcome such internal distractions.

That is what I preach about in my Time and Energy [TEP] Protection Calls.

Aka. the *real* distractions.

If you’d like to learn more about the real distractions in your life, both your feelings and other people as well as lot of other items which you didn’t think of, I have written an entire book on the topic.
